Regardless of where we fall on the political spectrum, one thing is certain: Our way of life is only one or two administrations—or another global disaster—away from changing forever. Already, we have seen the dangers of government overreach, and those in control always seem to want more. Our rights as citizens of this great nation have never been in greater peril than they are today. Recent experiences have illustrated that we continually walk a fine line between maintaining our democracy and descending into the grip of a totalitarian-style government, which establishes and discards laws, mandates, and executive orders seemingly on a whim. The government cannot be blindly trusted, which is why the US Constitution, and the subsequent Amendments were written the way they were.
